Reform and frustration in Egypt
Article Abstract:
Egypt's new middle class is increasingly dissatisfied with the few economic opportunities open to it and discontented over its marginalized position in society. In the wake of this development, the government should address the grievances of this specific sector of society to prevent the recurrence of violence, spurred on by Islamic militants, in the country. In particular, steps to increase social equity and political participation should be taken to help ease tensions that could lead to violence.
