Skills, bargaining power and rising interindustry wage inequality since 1970
Article Abstract:
Two approaches can explain the rising interindustry wage inequality of the 1970s: the neoclassical approach, which emphasizes the role that competitive skills play in wage determination; and a structural method which stresses the importance of labor's bargaining power relative to wages. The structural method adequately accounts for core industries or those industries where workers have the most bargaining power. As for non-core industries, employment growth equated to a demand for labor significantly affects wages in consonance with the neoclassical model.

A two-sector effort-regulation model with implications for wage developments of the 1980s
Article Abstract:
A two-sector effort-regulation model can explain the decline in real wages for non-supervisory personnel in the 1980s. The model suggests that the loss of labor's bargaining power is the prime determinant while a shift in industrial priorities and employer attitudes reinforces the erosion of wages. The goods sector feels the loss of bargaining power more than does the service sector since the former tends to have stronger unions.

The wage-profit curve in Brazil: an input-output model with fixed capital, 1975
Article Abstract:
The classical surplus model of wage and profit determination is applied to Brazil to analyze the relationship between the rates of wages and profits and its affect on total capital. The results of input-output analysis indicate that in Brazil, a semi-industrial, populous country, the price of gross output is very sensitive to changes in income distribution between profits and wages.
