Article Abstract:
A prominent psychiatrist graduated from the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute in 1965 and joined SNCC in New York to start his service to the black populace in Mississippi and has ever since been a pioneer in fighting for racial equality and ensuring the betterment of the racially subjugated African-Americans. He has actively used his psychiatric training in community organizations such as the Urban League, the NAACP, Operation PUSH and SCLC to enhance the self-confidence of minority children and adults.

The 104th US Congress, scheduled to convene in Jan 1995, will see the newly elected Republicans clamoring for funding cuts to Medicare, Head Start, Job Corps, Student Loans, Pell Grants and other social programs. Bills such as the Brady Bill and Medical Leave Act will be reviewed. People involved in ensuring racial equality should prevent the abolition of these programs, which greatly benefit the low-income blacks and other minority groups.
