The 2006 Freedom House survey: The pushback against democracy
Article Abstract:
The annual survey of political rights and civil liberties by Freedom House shows a series of worrisome trends like the stagnation and setback of freedom in a number of Asia-Pacific countries and Africa as well as an entrenchment of authoritarianism in most countries of the former Soviet Union due to the pushback against organizations, movements and media that monitor human rights.
