The D.C. Circuit Task Force on Gender, Race and Ethnic Bias: political correctness rebuffed
Article Abstract:
A threat to the independent judicial process in the name of political correctness was narrowly averted in the District of Columbia Circuit due to the efforts of the new Chief Judge, Harry Edwards. The Task Force on Gender, Race, and Ethnic Bias conducted improper inquiries into personnel practices and judicial decision-making processes. The Task Force Report will be published without an endorsement from the Judicial Council, and criticisms of the Task Force will be included. Only the most uncontroversial recommendations of the the Task Force have been accepted by the Judicial Council.

"Independent of heaven itself": differing Federalist and Anti-Federalist perspectives on the centralizing tendency of the federal judiciary
Article Abstract:
The Anti-Federalists were correct in discerning that the federal judiciary would promote the expansion of the federal government. As they saw, not enough constraints were placed on the judicial branch, which as a branch of the federal government tends to be biased in favor of an expansive interpretation of federal powers. A re-evaluation of the life tenure of federal judges may be one way to approach the problem.

The Federalist vision of a representative democracy
Article Abstract:
The Federalist emphasis on first principles needs to be remembered by judges today. For example, the issue of congressional district apportionment, currently being decided in federal district courts, raises basic questions concerning the nature of representative democracy and the role of the judiciary in resolving such political disputes.
