The European business interest and the nation state: large-firm lobbying in the European Union and member states
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the informity of actions across policy domains related to the growth of European Union regulatory policies. Declines in the national channels were correlated with general globalization trends encountered by all democracies. Results indicated that multinationals support a complex political ability that permits them to establish new multilevel and ad hoc political alliances. Findings also showed that European public policy system affects the use of national public policy system and the establishment of political business alliances.

European policies: the impact of national administrative traditions
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the effects of national administrative traditions during implementation of European legislation. The study also analyzed the relationship between the scope of European adaptation pressure and effectiveness of implementation. Results indicated that implementation is significantly hindered by high adaptation pressure because of the fundamental institutional changes required by European policies.

From the positive to the regulatory state: Causes and consequences of changes in the mode of governance
Article Abstract:
European governments have had to change their traditional methods of governance since the late 1970s, as a response to certain trends, including rising international competition and growing economic and monetary integration with the European union. This has led to a move from the positive, interventionist state to the regulatory state.
