The United States and the prospects for NPT extension
Article Abstract:
The US government would like the majority vote of the Non-Proliferation Treaty state parties to decide in favor of extending the ban on all nuclear weapons. The government believes that nuclear weapons should be destroyed in a phased manner and that all nuclear weapon states should abide by nuclear-weapon-free zone agreements. Other critical issues include the guaranteeing free nuclear technological know-how for developing non-nuclear countries, the lowering of the regional arms race and the signing of a treaty to stop the production and storing of nuclear-weapon manufacturing material.

South Asian and the future of nuclear non-proliferation
Article Abstract:
The nuclear tests conducted by India and Pakistan has posed a serious threat to the nuclear non-proliferation regime. Failure of the international community to curb the actions of the two countries may encourage other nations to follow suit. Thus, the international community should respond by imposing sanctions on India and Pakistan and requiring them to agree to conditions such as joining the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty.
