Article Abstract:
Issues are argued concerning the probability that managed care's loss of consumer confidence is permanent unless the industry can figure out how to restore trust in its ability to deliver high-quality health care for less cost. The increase in point-of-service options in managed care plans helps only the rich and leaves the underlying problem of how to restrain growth in medical costs.
