Trade regimes and China's accession to the World Trade Organization
Article Abstract:
Bilateral and multilateral trade negotiations may either halt or expedite China's entry to the World Trade Organization (WTO). China currently enjoys bilateral trade agreements with some WTO member states like Canada and France, and these agreements may create a situation for China not to be aggressive in pursuing its accession to the WTO. On the multilateral level, there will be some trade effects like the possibility of Chinese exports replacing other Asian exports in the foreign market and Taiwan's wihtdrawal from the organization. Overall, China's entry will widen the international export market.
