Turkey divided
Article Abstract:
The implementation of democracy is Turkey through the 2007 elections has gained the support of two political groups, the liberal democrats who support secular republican traditions and the other that insists of reshaping the Republic along Islamic principles. The division between these groups on key issues is discussed, although both insist that democracy is essential to Turkey.

The future of South Africa's party system
Article Abstract:
The internal political development of South Africa, which is one of the strongest of the democracies that have risen across Africa since 1990, is an important process, and one in which parties play a key role. The roles of the major political parties, led by the African National Congress, that have made considerable presence on the political scene of South Africa are discussed.

In February 2003, the president of Uganda Yoweri Museveni decided to alter the Ugandan political system from 'no-party' model to multiparty pluralism. The National Resistance Movement (NRM) aims to become a regular political party prepared for presidential and legislative elections in 2006.
