Lockheed Martin and the United Arab Emirates signed a contract for the delivery of 80 F-16C/D aircraft, starting in 2004. Congress is expected to approve the sale of the jets, which are more advanced than those flown by American pilots.

UAE to purchase 80 F-16C/Ds, arms in deal worth $7 billion
Article Abstract:
The United Arab Emirates will acquire 80 F-16C/D fighters, weapons and support systems from Lockheed Martin Corp in deal worth about $7 billion. The aircraft is a based on a new Block 60 platform and will contain more advanced features than the F-16s presently flown by the Air Force. The White House also expressed its approval of the deal, saying that it would create 15,000 new jobs in Texas and 30,000 more around the country.
