Political and ecological communication
Article Abstract:
Democracy that accommodates political and ecological perspectives is better equipped to deal with ecological issues. The principles of ecological democracy provide a scale to measure existing regulations. Developmental plans should aim at local needs, keeping in view their sustainability. Global coordination in the implementation of green programs, such as for air pollution, is required since they have global effects. The implementation of ecological or green democracy is hindered by hegemonistic tendencies of capitalist ideologies.

Liberal democracy and the rights of nature: the struggle for inclusion
Article Abstract:
Proposals for connecting ecocentric values and democracy are made by extending the principle of autonomy and rights to include ecological interests. The individualistic premise in the discourse of rights has hindered the attempt to connect autonomy and rights within the framework of ecological democracy. The discourse on rights assumes more complexities in the light of ecological entities, both human and non-human. Proposals made toward this end seek to contribute to the achievement of green objectives.

Community and the ecological self
Article Abstract:
Small communities within liberal forms of democracy play a significant role in fostering ecocentric environmentalism. By empathizing with their ecological needs, a sense of local identity is created. The scope of these identities can be extended to transnational boundaries. The transnational identities of these communities are effective in controlling the destructive potential of capitalism. Despite the individualism nurtured by liberal democracy, it provides a beginning for ecocentric consciousness.
