Warlords, drugs, democracy
Article Abstract:
Political and military stability does not exist in Afghanistan. Warlords extract revenues through extortion and narco-trafficking. With continued international support, political, economic and military the country could move towards a sustained peace, but the threats to that peace require greater international muscle and the political will to reconsider some unwise policy choices.

The United States and the National Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), agreed to take on the International Security Assistance Force mission in Afghanistan. Accordingly, working under the Assistance Force banner, the NATO will play a major role in rebuilding Afghanistan.
