A forensic day treatment program for personality-disordered criminal offenders
Article Abstract:
The first forensic day treatment program in Holland was started in Feb 1992 at Dr. Henri van der Hoeven Klinik, a 90-bed locked facility for personality disordered criminals. Demographic, criminal and mental health data on 61 patients who started the program before Aug 14, 1994 show that the psychopathology of these patients was very high. The treatment seems to have been effective but tests were limited by the lack of a control group. Follow-up research will be necessary to see how long-lasting the beneficial effect was.
