A semantic space of color names
Article Abstract:
The presence of a semantic space for color names was tested in three subjects. Twenty colors were paired with 20 three-letter codes which werethen rated as to their differences when the codes were presented without the actual colors. After training the subjects to fix the color with its corresponding code, the test was repeated. Results subjected to multidimensional analysis showed that the semantic space of the codes approximated that of Newton's circle. This study proves that the semantic spacefor color is closely associated with the sensory space.

Predicting clustering from semantic structure
Article Abstract:
The effects of semantic similarity structures in a homogenous domain to the clustering effects in free recall of lexical data were examined. A process model was used to test the difference in clustering performances among 17 word lists from various domains. Results indicated various magnitudes of semantic clustering which is related to the predictions inferred from the process model. The degree of clustering depended on the general and semantic distributional features of a word list

Semantic competition as the basis of Stroop interference: evidence from color-word matching tasks
Article Abstract:
Two experiments were conducted to examine the basis of Stroop interference using a color-word matching task. The objective was to determine whether interference can be eliminated and reestablished later by manipulating the involvement of the semantics system in the visual decision task. Results based on the meaning decision task and the visual decision task indicate that semantic competition is the major source of Stroop and Stroop-like interference.
