Adolescent children of Vietnam combat veteran fathers: a population at risk
Article Abstract:
It is becoming widely recognized that psychological problems frequently suffered by those who served in the Vietnam War may have a negative impact on their parenting abilities. Research undertaken among adolescent children of combat veterans and a comparison peer group sample attending a high school in West Virginia indicates that the children of combat veterans display substantially more problem behaviours, both at home and at school. Children of combat veterans seem to be at greater risk of internalized problems of tension, worry and depression, and may experience problems with the father-child relationship.

Promoting adolescent mental health in primary care: a review of the literature
Article Abstract:
A review of published literature was conducted to test the hypothesis that primary care is a suitable setting in which mental health problems in adolescents can be prevented by early detection and treatment. Findings showed that adolescent health checks and clinics have been well received with attendance rates of 73% and 83% reported. Primary care offered a setting for the prevention and detection of mental health problems in adolescents.
