Analysis of Variance in the Service of Interactionism
Article Abstract:
The separateness of genes and environment is not a presupposition of analysis of variance (ANOVA) in behavior genetics, as G.-J. Vreeke has suggested. ANOVA can be used to indicate the presence of interactions, although problems of interpretation must be dealt with.

Reply to Turkheimer and Waldron and Wahlsten
Article Abstract:
The inference of causality based on analysis of variance in behavior genetics is discussed. Topics include the role of the additivity assumption in behavior genetics, issues of interpretation, and the gap between variance and development.

Statistical Analysis, Experimental Method, and Causal Inference in Developmental Behavioral Genetics
Article Abstract:
The points raised by G.-J. Vreeke apply to the inference of causality on the basis of correlational data in general, a failing more widespread than the use of analysis of variance in behavior genetics, which Vreeke specifically targets.
