Annotation: aspects of pain in children and adolescents
Article Abstract:
The research of children and adolescents in the fields of children's understanding of pain, pain measurement, the family and pain, psychological treatment and psychogenic pain/somatization disorder has made remarkable progress. The recent theories and knowledge from varied fields such as development psychology and molecular biology should be utilized to solve the complex problems relating to pain. Although it is too early to expect a complete theory about pain in children, a developmental and interdisciplinary approach will prove helpful in the long run. The inclusion of pain in children in curricula will also help.

The effect of methylphenidate and clonidine on response inhibition and state regulation in children with ADHD
Article Abstract:
The effect of methylphenidate (MPH) and clonidine compared with a placebo on response inhibition and state regulation in children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), was evaluated. The main dependent measures were taken from children's performance on a GO-No Go task. Results found no difference in task performance between groups treated with placebo, MPH and clonidine and it is concluded that the state regulation problem in ADHD is resistant to MPH and clonidine.
