The role of no-suicide agreements in the treatment of suicidal ideation and behavior: a comment
Article Abstract:
No-suicide agreements can be employed as an effective measure in the treatment of suicidal individuals. However, this subject raises questions about a number of important issues, which include informed consent for treatment and standards of care. No-suicide agreements should not be treated as an isolated technique but as a part of a broader treatment plan. Psychiatrists must avoid putting too great an emphasis on no-suicide agreements and should not treat it as an independent intervention.

The role of no-suicide agreements in the treatment of suicidal persons: a rejoinder
Article Abstract:
The no-suicide agreement, used as a tool in the treatment of a suicidal individual, is not meant to be viewed and implemented in isolation. In contrast, it is meant to be used a part of a broader treatment plan. Thus, it is important to realize that merely obtaining a no-suicide agreement from a patient does not sufficiently prevent the possibility of suicide. However, research suggests that a patient's act of explicitly agreeing not to commit suicide has substantial benefits.

What's in a name..
Article Abstract:
Standard terminology on suicide-related behavior is important for it provides clarity and precision of communication, upgrades research studies on such topic and enhance the efficiency of clinical intercessions. Such nomenclature is important for good science and in providing appropriate clinical care for patients. Otherwise, the presence of unclear nomenclatures with conflicting definitions would make case studies more complicated.
