Article Abstract:

A specific deficit model and a contextual factors model of brain-damaged or impaired persons provide insight and help in assessing changes in post-traumatic emotional functioning. Researchers must also recognize the importance of the degree and type of cognitive awareness that remains following brain-impairment and its relationship to depression. Despite considerable progress, much more research, new methodologies, revised tests, and expansion of existing paradigms are needed to establish an empirical basis for treatment.

Subtlety of the MMPI-2 Depression Scale: a subject laid to rest?

Article Abstract:

Criterion validity is supported for both the Wiener-Harmon Depression-Obvious (D-O) and Depression-Subtle (D-O) subscales of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2. However, the D-S subscale has a low validity as a measure of depression in clinical diagnosis. Both Scale 2 and the D-O subscale demonstrate concurrent validity when compared with a standard criterion depression indicator.
