Attending to diversity in group psychotherapy: An ethical imperative
Article Abstract:
A case of a therapist-in-training, attempting to show whether a particular psychotherapy group having exclusively heterosexual males would be proper and effective treatment venue for a gay male, designed to illustrate a process of ethical and culturally competent decision-making, is discussed. The discussion provides the multiple steps through which the group psychotherapist must move to successfully solve ethical issues that are related to diversity.

Informed consent, which is endorsed as part of ethical practice in group psychotherapy by professional organizations, is a process of communicating essential information about group treatment to patients so that they can make rational decisions about treatment. The design and implementation of the informed consent process for group is discussed along with specific suggestions as well as discussions on some potential ethical dilemmas.

Ethics and endings in group psychotherapy: Saying good-bye and saying it well
Article Abstract:
The interface of endings and ethics in group therapy, regarding ethical conflict, informed consent, time and role boundaries, privacy and confidentiality, unplanned endings, finances and competence are discussed. Examples of ethical dilemmas suggest the clinicians to develop and maintain ethical fitness and awareness, including attunement to personal responses, to endings and loss.
