Attentional modulation of the phonetic significance of acoustic cues
Article Abstract:
Four experiments were conducted to examine attention's effect on phonetic perception. Results obtained by experiments 1 and 2 suggest that strong acoustic cues influence phonetic labeling most when careful attention is devoted to speech perception, in contrast to weaker acoustic cues which do not require high attention levels to achieve maximum impact. In experiment 3, this pattern was found to occur whenever the distractor task demands little verbal-short term memory. The formal models on the attentional modulation of speech perception can be tested using data obtained by experiment4.

Illusory conjunctions: does inattention really matter?
Article Abstract:
Conjunction errors are more frequent than the feature errors in attentive and inattentive states alike. In addition, post-perceptual factors were found to have a greater effect on performance than perceptual factors. The results show that the frequency of conjunction errors versus feature errors does not support feature integration theory, as previous researchers have maintained. Conjunction errors result from the mistaken conjunction of features from different stimuli, whereas feature errors come from the mistaken perception of a feature that is not there.

Do people who marry really have the same level of differentiation of self?
Article Abstract:
Individuals do not necessarily choose spouses who share similar levels of differentiation of self. Using a combination of pseudocouple and Monte Carlo sampling methods, similarity measures revealed that actual couples were more similar than randomly formed couples on only the Spousal Intimacy scale of the Personal Authority in the Family System of Questionnaire. Low or near zero similarity measures were found in the other six scales.
