Beyond parenting practices: Extended kinship support and the academic adjustment of African-American and European-American teens
Article Abstract:
A study reveals that parental acceptance for African-American teens and European American teens is associated with school values, teacher bonding and work orientation, while the later group with stronger extended kinship networks reports a higher teacher bonding and stronger work orientation. The importance of extended kinship support for both African-American and European American adolescents are indicated.

Ethnic and gender differences in drinking, smoking and drug taking among adolescents in England: A self-report school-based survey of 15 and 16 year olds
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted in England to accomplish the relationship between gender and ethnicity of drinking, smoking and the use of drugs in the age group of 15 and 16 year olds. The result indicates that, in general, men are inclined towards drinking, using drugs and towards heavy smoking whilst women are more inclined towards smoking only.

Applying ethnic equivalence and cultural values models to African-American teens' perceptions of parents
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted, with interview responses from 93 African-American adolescents aged between 14 and 15, to evaluate the parenting styles and family models. The result suggests that a joint model that combines elements from both models can be used to understand better the African-American families.
