Body weight in acute anorexia nervosa and at follow-up assessed with percentiles for the body mass index: implications of a low body weight at referral
Article Abstract:
The body weight at referral affects the absolute body mass indices (BMI) that the individual patient of anorexia nervosa attains in the future. The distribution of body mass indices points to a continuum between death from complications associated with anorexia nervosa and a low body weight. Patients with acute low body weight at their referral, lack an increase in their BMIs in the future.

The relationship between premorbid body weight, weight loss, and weight at referral in adolescent patients with anorexia nervosa
Article Abstract:
Patients with anorexia nervosa (AN) show a link between the estimated premorbid body mass index centile and body mass index at initial admission for inpatient treatment. This finding arose from research investigating the hypothesis that patients with AN with an above average body weight at the beginning of their illness present with a higher body mass index at first referral for inpatient treatment than patients with a below average premorbid body weight. It was also established that, in AN patients, the extent of weight loss before first admission depends on the premorbid body mass index centile.
