Transient population, crime, and solution: the Chinese experience
Article Abstract:
Transients from the countryside has led to significantly more crime in key Chinese cities. Research indicates that the control system worked previously but it has been challenged by a large migration from the country to cities and the public wants change. China at one time built its stable social order on informal control procedures and restricting population movements. The transients disrupted this system and increased crime was inevitable.
