Eating pathology before and after bariatric surgery: a prospective study
Article Abstract:
An evaluation of 116 patients before bariatric surgery and at follow-up an average of 5.5 years following surgery indicates that 52% of patients reported pre-operative binge eating, with 16% meeting the criteria for binge eating disorder. The hypothesis that there would be new eating pathology at follow-up was confirmed. Some 79% of patients were still occasionally vomiting at a mean of 5.5 years, with one third vomiting at least weekly. None of the patients reported binge eating at follow-up.

Very early-onset bulimia nervosa: report of two cases
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine two cases of bulimia nervosa among younger adolescents below the age of 14. Both cases involved girls, with one girl exhibiting premenarchal onset. Both girls exhibited high levels of risk factors that are related to the etiology of bulimia nervosa. Results indicate that several stressors contribute to the early onslaught of bulimia nervosa including family discord and stress.
