Constraints on the formation of the plural reference objects: The influence of the role, conjunction, and type of description
Article Abstract:
The use of singular and plural pronominal references to split antecedents such as John and Mary is examined. Four experiments exploring the preferences for plural and singular pronouns following split antecedents are reported, and predicted effects for plural references and singular references are shown through eye-tracking data.
