Dissolving boundaries between collective and individual representations: a welcome contribution to developmental psychology
Article Abstract:
Some of the views of Nicolopoulou and Weintraub regarding collective and individual representations invite comment. The authors' theory of cognitive development furthered researchers' understanding of the dynamics of individuals. They based their theory on the Piagetian perspective that supported boundaries between the individual and sociocultural basis of development. They also carried out historical analyses to associate collective representations with cultural structures and practices.

Institutions are real but internalization is not
Article Abstract:
Some of the views of Nicolopoulou and Weintraub regarding collective representations associated with the ontology of individuals and social relations invite comment. They correlated the existence of the game of marbles with cooperative interaction and competition without accommodating institutional structures into psychological theory. Moreover, the authors did not address the influence of learning institutions on various sociological concerns.
