Effects of therapist exceptions questions on blaming and positive statements in families with adolescent behaviour problems
Article Abstract:
Study of the use of exceptions questions in family therapy shows that their use can improve communication in families where adolescent behavior problems exist. Exception questions reduce blaming statements and increase positive statements as long as they are continued, however, when the therapist stops them, blaming statements increase again and the positive statements decrease. The effects of alternately introducing and abandoning therapist exceptions questions on the rate of blaming statements are studied.

The stability and validity of early adolescents' reports of parenting constructs
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the reliability and soundness of early adolescents' perceptions of parenting constructs. The influence of a comprehensive community intervention program designed to prevent problem behaviors among middle school children was also examined. Positive family relations were then analyzed based on the level of trust, fun, warmth and togetherness among children and parents. Results correlated parenting constructs with deviant peer relations, antisocial conduct and substance use.
