Extremity of externalizing behavior and young adult outcomes
Article Abstract:
Extremity of externalizing behavior during childhood was found to affect education and employment outcomes in young adulthood in an analysis of data from the National Child Development Study. Age of onset, density, persistence, and pervasiveness were the four heuristic dimensions of extremity analyzed in relation to school-leaving age, labor force entry qualifications, and social class of job at age 23 as measures of outcome. Persistence was found to have the most effect on outcome, while the influence of temporal proximity was greater than that of early onset.

Parents anticipating misbehaviour: An observational study of strategies parents use to prevent conflict with behaviour problem children
Article Abstract:
A study has revealed that mothers of children aged three with behavioural problems tend to use reactive rather than pre-emptive strategies to handle conflict. The research also showed that reactive maternal strategies at age three tends to produce behavioural problems at age five. A sample of 52 children participated in the survey, including those with hyperactivity and conduct problems.
