Feature-based induction
Article Abstract:
A study exploring a model based on feature-based induction is presented. The model is grounded on the concept that connection strengths between conclusion categories and property of interest exists between categories or conceptual schemata. The model is a two-stage process of encoding connecting features and the testing of features. Results indicate that the model is a viable alternative model since it accounts for 13 phenomena and shows fit in argument strength ratings. The process of thinking by the model is discussed.

Knowledge structures and linear separability: integrating information in object and social categorization
Article Abstract:
A study of cognitive psychology shows that the structure of knowledge varies with the content domain. Depending on the type of knowledge and integration strategies used, some category structures are easier to learn in some domains than others. In sorting tasks, participants are more likely to form linearly separable (LS) structures with social materials. In learning tasks LS structures are easier to learn with social materials but nonlinear, separable structures are easier to learn with object materials.

Categorical inference is not a tree: the myth of inheritance hierarchies
Article Abstract:
Five experiments were conducted among Brown University undergraduates to determine the applicability of category inclusions in the assessment of categorical arguments having only one predicate and natural categories. The results revealed that the subjects seldom applied the category inclusion rule although recognizing the pertinent categorical relation. The judgments were also found to be more inclined to correspond to the similarity conclusion and premise categories.
