Gender differences in affective reactions to first coitus
Article Abstract:
The affective reactions of men and women to their first sexual intercourse experience were analyzed in a study participated by 87 college men and 122 college women. Grouping of emotions into coherent factors for each sex was conducted using factor analyses. Factors evident in men were pleasure, romance, anxiety and guilt while the coherent factors in women were pleasure/romance, anxiety and guilt. More research focusing on the emotions involved in first coital experiences were recommended for further understanding of adolescent sexual behavior.
