Gender differences in body image are increasing
Article Abstract:
A meta-analysis was performed to investigate gender differences in attractiveness and body image utilizing 222 studies. The female-to-male variance ratios (VRs) and standardized mean differences (d) were examined with d measured separately for right and left distributional tails. Results showed that males were more satisfied with their bodies as compared to their female counterparts. There was also a more pronounced female variability in body image and age among adult women.
