Gestural communication in subadult bonobos (pan paniscus): Repertoire and use
Article Abstract:
A study is done to provide an inventory of the communicative gestures used by bonobus (Pan paniscus), based on observations of subadult bonobus and descriptions of gestural signals and similar behaviors in wild and captive bonobo groups. Suggestive evidences show that gestural repertoire of bonobos can be characterized as flexible and adapted to various communicative circumstances, including the attentional state of the recipient.

Use of gesture sequences in chimpanzees
Article Abstract:
Gestural communication in a group of 19 captive chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) was observed in a study, with special focus on gesture sequences (combinations). Results suggest that chimpanzees do not use gestures to manipulate the attention of others with respect to the second gesture, rather, they use other strategies to make sure that the recipient sees the sender performing visual gestures.
