Individual differences in children's working memory and writing skill
Article Abstract:
Individual differences in children's writing skill and reading comprehension correspond to specific and multiple capacity working memory systems, respectively. Working memory has (WM) significant correlation with writing measures of text generation and reading comprehension. WM has a unique impact on writing, independent of reading skill. Phonological short term memory is correlated with transcription processes and reading recognition. Although verbal and visual-spatial working memory measures predict reading comprehension, only executive processing WM predicts writing.

Learning-disabled readers' working memory as a function of processing demands
Article Abstract:
The poor working memory performance of learning-disabled readers under difficult conditions is due to restrictions on the availability of knowledge in their central storage system. Both the verbal and visual-spatial working memories of disabled readers are poorer than that of normal readers. The differences between disabled and normal readers increase when the working memory demands are matched to individual abilities. The working memory performance of disabled readers can be improved but they face many disadvantages as compared to normal readers of the same age.

Age-related differences in learning disabled and skilled readers' working memory
Article Abstract:
This article compares learning disabled and skilled readers' working memory performance in an effort to determine whether age-related deficits reflect delays in retrieval efficiency and storage capacity in learning disabled. The authors found that learning disabled readers' working memory performance was inferior to skilled readers across all age groups.
