Is the mobility gradient suitable for general application?
Article Abstract:
The mobility gradient is seen as a powerful tool in describing overt behavior, however its universal applicability has been questioned. The mobility gradient finds sufficient use in early development and asymmetrical contests but the advent of going into higher planes such as ontogeny wherein sequencing becomes highly variable precludes its use as a descriptive tool. There would also be difficulty in describing issues such as altruism and territorial advertising. The model then, is perceived to fall short of universal application.

Alternative taxonomies in movement: not only possible but critical
Article Abstract:
Ilan Golani's suppositions that alternative taxonomies in behavior are possible and that categorizations in movement by function are different from categorizations in movement by form were supported by analysts who have studied his concepts. The analysts believe that Golani has brought about important questions concerning the possibility of mapping behavioral and brain functions through detailed analyses of the form of movement along complementary dimensions.
