Learning to pass: Sex offenders' strategies for establishing a viable identity in the prison general population
Article Abstract:
The realities of prison life for sex offenders and the means by which they attempt to establish viable identities and acquire a survivable niche in the prison general population, particularly when established identities and protective niches are put at risk by entry into a sex offender treatment program, is illustrated. The analysis suggests a need to include consideration of treatment context in understanding the limits of treatment gain in prison-based programs.

Psychosocial adjustment and psychopathology of men sexually abused during childhood
Article Abstract:
The psychological adjustment and psychopathology among men sexually abused during their childhood are evaluated in order understand the reasons for which some adult males manifest greater distress than others. The multivariate analysis suggest that some of these problems are not only associated with the sexual contacts but also with other childhood experiences and with the participant's cognitive, affective and psychological resources.

The effect of time on the disciplinary adjustment of women in prison
Article Abstract:
The article examines the behavior of female prisoners and their ability to adapt to prison life. The author argues that time of incarceration greatly influences the behavior of the prisoners, with short-term inmates acting more disruptively than long-term inmates, who tend to be less disruptive as their incarceration progresses.
