Psychological and educational treatments for autism
Article Abstract:
Autism is a developmental disorder characterized by ritualistic and obsessional behavior, lack of social understanding, and deficient communication skills. There is no known cure for this condition, but several teaching methods have proven effective in producing favorable outcomes. These include the Japanese style 'Daily Life Therapy,' Kaufman's (1981) 'Options' method and Lovaas et al's (1993) early intervention program. Other interventions used in the treatment of autistic children are reviewed.

Modelling the training effects of kinaesthetic acuity measurement in children
Article Abstract:
The Kinaesthetic Acuity Test (KAC) is said to be wholly dependent on a child's ability to use available kinaesthetic information about the location and movement of his or her arms. It has previously been shown that the motor skills of clumsy children can be significantly improved after fairly brief interventions. The current study shows that a staircase method (Pest) can improve the kinaesthetic acuity of normal children too.
