Managed care: strongly conflicting views
Article Abstract:
Managed care plans were conceptualized to provide adequate health care services to all segments of the American population in the most accessible and cost-effective manner. However, this system has been criticized by some quarters as rationed health care whose quality depends on the patients' ability to pay or insurance coverage. While some subscribers to managed care plans have attested to the quality and effectivity of such services, many people still believe that managed care systems are immoral because they deprive patients of their right to choose, their privacy and their decision-making powers.
