Mental capacity constraints and the development of moral reasoning
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted among 120 children to determine the role of mental capacity in determining a child's moral reasoning ability. Two visual-reasoning tests were used to measure mental capacity and Gibbs' Sociomoral Reflection Measure was used to test for moral development. Results of the multiple regression analysis show that 40% of the variance is due to mental capacity while 41% can be attributed to sociocultural and affective factors. These indicate that although mental capacity is important in moral development, it is not the sole factor that determines the latter.

Picture naming by young children: norms for name agreement, familiarity, and visual complexity
Article Abstract:
Age-related differences in the cognitive abilities of individuals can be properly evaluated only through the use of age-appropriate pictorial stimuli. Normative data collected from a study on cognitive psychology revealed that children differ from adults in the names that they usually assign to pictures and in the number of alternative names that they provide. Children also exhibited a higher failure rate than adults in assigning names to pictorial stimuli.
