Modeling response times for two-choice decisions
Article Abstract:
The diffusion model is used in studying what information drives two-choice decision processes and how they evolve through time. It is also used in explaining the relationship between correct and faulty decisions across a range of experimental paradigms. Its usefulness lies in the randomness of the decision process as can be seen in experiments in perceptual stimuli. The diffusion model belongs to the class of sequential-sampling models but is also a random-walk model. It differs from other random walk models in that information crucial in making decisions is accumulated continuously over time and not in discrete steps.

A parallel distributed processing model of stimulus-stimulus and stimulus-response compatibility
Article Abstract:
Experiments with people, as well as simulated experiments, showed that a parallel distributed processing model can accurately predict reaction time for cognitive and perceptual activities that require decision-making and choice. The activities included in the experiments include the Stroop task, the Simon task, the Eriksen flanker task and the stimulus-response compatibility task. The model's predictive value may be extended for decision-making in more complex activities.

Rationality, melioration, and law-of-effect models for choice
Article Abstract:
Models for human choice include rationality whereby, a factor is chosen based on its maximized effective use. Melioration on the other hand, is a dynamic process proposed by Herrstein where choices aremade based on a moment-by-moment tendency to equalize payoffs per unit of behavior allocated. These proposed mechanisms are not the ideal models and theyhave their own benefits and shortcomings.
