Nathan Roth, M.D.: 'The aim of psychoanalytic therapy'
Article Abstract:
Nathan Roth indicated the need to enhance a patient's emotional well-being by inhibiting the superego. Roth indicated the detrimental effects of the superego in the patient's ability to utilize emotional and intellectual capabilities. Modern psychoanalytical techniques incorporated Roth's theories on the superego by evaluating the role of transference and countertransference in human interactions. Furthermore, the psychotherapeutic techniques are altered by discoveries on the mechanisms of human behavior.
