OBM and quality improvement systems
Article Abstract:
Empirical organizational behavior management (OBM) literature on quality improvement systems in organizations serving persons with developmental disabilities (DD) is reviewed. Findings indicated that present literature provide a small but increasing number of references on large-scale, long-term use of behavioral supervision to enhance certain aspects of personnel performance in DD organizations. It was also observed that the scope of OBM interventions in DD organizations may be expanded by including OBM in total quality management strategies.

Organizational behavior management within structural and cultural constraints: an example from the human service sector
Article Abstract:
The difference between managing through behavioral technology between private enterprises and human service settings is presented. Managers should be careful not to generalize a specific intervention to control performance standards since the reinforcers for one setting may not be present in the current setting. The human service setting is notorious for lacking common specific reinforcers that can be targeted for an optimal solution of behavior management.

Training supervisors to train staff: a case study in a human service organization
Article Abstract:
The effectiveness of a supervisory training programs in human service organizations is examined through the evaluation of the training skills of four supervisors. The supervisors were trained using techniques such as modeling, role-play, feedback and instructions. At the same time, the supervisors provided on-the-job training for four paraprofessional staff members. Results show an improvement in the teaching skills of supervisors and paraprofessionals.
