Phoneme manipulation not onset-rime manipulation stability is a unique predictor of early reading
Article Abstract:
Research is carried out to establish whether explicit onset-rime manipulation predicts reading at age seven independent of both phoneme manipulation and baseline skills and pupil background measures that are routinely used in schools. Combined data show that together with baseline and pupil background data, phonemic awareness is a very good predictor both of reading success and of relative reading difficulty.
