Preschool children's attention to television: visual attention and probe response times
Article Abstract:
An examination of variations in the engagement of young children's cognitive capacity by televised material was conducted. Thirty five children of five years of age were used as subjects and two edited Sesame Street shows were used as a testing tool. Findings showed that capacity was more significantly engaged if language was understandable. The result also gave evidence for the hypothesis that young children's understanding is a critical factor in their attention to television.
