Psychopathic and nonpsychopathic violence among alcoholic offenders
Article Abstract:
Studies commonly link alcohol consumption and violence, but the role of alcohol in initiating aggressive and antisocial behavior must be studied using numerous theoretical frameworks. A 1994 study concluded that alcohol is the only psychoactive substance whose consumption has been shown to commonly increase aggression. The same study found that at least half of all violent incidents studied by the National Institute of Justice for the past several decades have followed alcohol drinking. The consumption of alcohol makes the drinker more sensitive to provocation, increases self-esteem and decreases remorse after violent acts.

Quality of life and psychological well-being of mentally disordered offenders after court diversion: a 6-month follow-up
Article Abstract:
Psychologically disturbed criminal offenders who have been directed away from prison and to alternative rehabilitation programs need more out-reach services to improve their quality of life and psychological state. A study of 65 British offenders six months after they had been diverted to alternative rehabilitative programs revealed that their quality of life and psychological state was worse than the normal population.

Content stability in the repertory grid: an examination using a forensic sample
Article Abstract:
The Role Construct Repertory Grid Technique seems moderately reliable for assessing violent forensic psychiatric patients. The test was given to a sample of men incarcerated for at least 2 years for violent crimes. The reliability of the test yielded 64% shared content. Results are good enough so that this test has a place in basic criminological research.
