Reliability of the Dominic-R: a young child mental health questionnaire combining visual and auditory stimuli
Article Abstract:
Researchers tested the reliability of the Dominic-R child assessment questionnaire. The Dominic-R test uses both auditory and visual stimuli, and aims to obtain standardized information from children regarding their own mental health. It gives ratings for disorders including separation anxiety disorder, conduct disorder and attention deficit disorder. The researchers used a test and retest approach with a group of 340 children aged between six and 11 years. Most symptoms yielded high kappas and the researchers concluded that the test compared well with other child assessment questionnaires.

The mental health of the peers of suicide completers and attempters
Article Abstract:
A cross-sectional investigation of the peers of Chinese adolescent suicide completers and attempters in Hong Kong indicates that being a friend of a suicide attempter brings an even higher risk of psychiatric disturbance and suicidal behaviour than being exposed to completed suicide. It is becoming more common for young people exposed to complete suicide to receive counselling, but this is not the case with peers of suicide attempters. Consideration must be given to the need for psychiatric services for the peers of suicide attempters.
