Severe anorexia nervosa associated with osteoporotic-linked femural neck fracture and pulmonary tuberculosis: a case report
Article Abstract:
The case study of a 38-year-old anorexic woman who was found to have pulmonary tuberculosis on admission to hospital for treatment after breaking her femoral neck seems to back up previous observations that anorexics may be resistant to a certain degree to infectious diseases. This case study highlights the unsatisfactory contribution of the anamnesis, especially in serious, chronic cases, in relation to the diagnosis of complications resulting from malnutrition in anorexia nervosa. Very frequently, physicians attribute all symptoms to anorexia nervosa, rather than considering the possibility of other conditions.

Anorexia nervosa in an Arab culture
Article Abstract:
The prevalence of anorexia nervosa in Western countries and its rarity elsewhere raises the question of whether this eating disorder is influenced by culture. Five cases of anorexia nervosa in Arab countries, where plumpness is considered a mark of fertility and womanhood while thinness is regarded as socially undesirable, are presented. The occurrence of these eating disorders suggests the growing westernization of the Arab society.
