Singing in the brain: independence of lyrics and tunes
Article Abstract:
The time course and scalp distribution of changes in the electrical activity of the brain associated with the processing of lyrics and tunes were investigated. Sixteen professional musicians from the opera in Marseille, France, were subjected to an experiment to determine whether people listening to music treat the linguistic and musical components independently. Results showed that lyrics and tunes are treated independently, a phenomenon which is consistent with a modular organization of human cognition.

Validity and neuropsychological characterization of Asperger Syndrome: convergence with nonverbal learning disabilities syndrome
Article Abstract:
Asperger Syndrome (AS) does appear to be empirically distinct from other., similar disorders such as Higher-Functioning Autism (HFA). The neuropsychological profiles of AS and HFA patients were compared, as were the diagnostic methods used to identify each disorder. Significant differences in eleven neuropsychological areas were found between the two groups, suggesting that AS is a distinct condition.
