Social and reproductive factors affecting cortisol levels in wild female Golden Lion Tamarins (Leontopithecus rosalia)
Article Abstract:
The hypothesis that wild golden lion tamarin female, whose social structure is characterized by low aggression and high social support, would not show rank-related differences in glucocorticoids but would show reproductive changes. The results show that the lack of differences in cortisol excretion between dominants and sub-ordinates is likely due to the low levels of overt aggression and the high level of social support available to subordinate females.

Energy intake, energy expenditure, and reproductive costs of female wild Golden Lion Tamarins (Leontopithecus rosalia)
Article Abstract:
An experiment was carried out using two-tailed Wilcoxon signed-rank tests in order to compare the intake in the reproductive vs. nonreproductive period and expenditure in the reproductive vs. nonreproductive period. It was found that reproductive female GLTs may adopt a reproductive method including high intake before pregnancy and lactation and energy conservation during pregnancy and lactation.

Census and distribution of the golden lion tamarin (Leontopithecus rosalia)
Article Abstract:
During 1990-1992, a survey of the golden lion tramarin, Leontopithecus rosalia, was carried out throughout its known distribution area and the record showed that the lions were getting extinct. It was then studied that the possibility to expand the golden lion tamarin populations could be expanded since the forest were largely destroyed and much of the remaining fragments were already occupied.
